The PercipEnz Approach

PercipEnz has established a strong collaborative relationship with its customers and has demonstrated its ability to develop and enhance enterprise-level software that is quickly adopted. Two keys to OnCore software's success are the way in which it has been developed and the way in which it continues to evolve. As the customer base for the OnCore platform grows, so does the company's ability to address a variety of needs that arise before, during, and after an implementation. PercipEnz believes that its approach of innovating through collaboration is essential to understanding its ability to serve its customer base, and that this is responsible for the consistently high levels of satisfaction that its customers report.

OnCore software is the result of numerous close collaborations with subject matter experts having years of operational experience in some of the country's most highly regarded clinical research centers. Through shared understanding of common challenges and community driven priorities, it continues to evolve to keep pace with the changing needs of clinical and translational research, thereby providing a solution for today and tomorrow.

Collaborative Initiatives

The following are a few examples of products, modules, and enhancements that have resulted from collaborative initiatives involving representatives from different research centers.

Paperless Committee Management: A fully-integrated system for managing the scientific review process for protocols including submission, tracking, review, revision, and approval.

Biospecimen Management: A biorepository management system that supports both prospective banking of discarded tissues and correlative clinical trials which are greatly facilitated by the high level of integration with the OnCore clinical research management system.

PDQ Integration: Automatically registers investigator-initiated studies with NCI's PDQ and subsequently ClinicalTrials.gov, obtains the NCTID and provides updates to PDQ of changes in protocol status.

Screening Database: Tracks key screening information such as referring physician, disease site, the studies for which a patient was screened, patient eligibility, and consent and enrollment status if applicable.

Clinical Trial Flowcharts: A decision tree that allows referring physicians to quickly identify which, if any, protocols would potentially be suitable for a patient given a relatively small set of patient and disease characteristics.

Audit Console: Tracks and summarizes detailed checklists of audited items covering categories such as regulatory, pharmacy, and subject cases.

Customer Top 5

Historically, to ensure that each institution's highest priority enhancements are addressed, PercipEnz has implemented a "Top 5" process in which each institution identifies its five highest priority issues to be addressed by the product. These enhancements are given the highest priority in the product development process. After completing these high-priority enhancements, additional enhancements may be included based on the availability of resources and on release schedules.

Customization

The above provides a means for institutions to exert considerable control over the development of OnCore software. However, should an urgent, user-specific need arise, it is possible to request custom development from PercipEnz on a fee-for-service basis. Because PercipEnz is a product company, it does not attempt to create circumstances whereby users are faced with significant service fees for customization, installation, training, etc. In keeping with this philosophy, the company is currently developing an OnCore Software Development Kit for use by the extended development community of the OnCore system who have an interest in developing and adopting new applications that provide complementary capabilities to the main OnCore platform.
