Rutgers-Cleveland Clinic Consortium of AFIRM Selects OnCore® to Support its Collaborative Clinical Research on Regenerative Therapies

When evaluating what was needed to support a widely distributed consortium comprised of 15 organizations across the country who are conducting cutting-edge collaborative clinical research, the Rutgers-Cleveland Clinic Consortium (RCCC) selected the OnCore Clinical Research Management system (OnCore-CRM) to administer their studies and coordinate the group's efforts.

University of Florida Shands Cancer Center Achieves Goal and Goes Live with OnCore in Under Four Months

The University of Florida Shands Cancer Center (UFSCC) set an aggressive timeline for their implementation of a new clinical research management system and, in just over three months, they met it. Back in June, the cancer clinical trials office began migrating data from their legacy system and rolling-out the OnCore system for clinical research management (OnCore-CRM). On Wednesday, September 23rd, the new OnCore users celebrated the go live of the new system with cake.

There just never seems to be enough time at the semi-annual Onsemble conferences. With a whirlwind of activity, the eighth face-to-face gathering of the OnCore community was no exception for the 117 people who attended. Member and guest contributions are critical to the success of all Onsemble conferences. For this event, representatives from 16 cancer centers sat on the Program Committee, which began working in March to plan the agenda. At the conference, presentations were delivered by over 22 member and special-guest speakers. Slide presentations, videos and other materials from the conference are now available for download from the Onsemble.net website.

Workshop will Focus on Increasing Patient Accrual and Measuring Operational Effectiveness

A power-packed roundtable discussion has been assembled to explore issues around patient accrual as part of a pre-conference workshop at the upcoming Onsemble 2009 Fall Conference. For the fifth consecutive conference, a workshop will be included that is specifically designed for clinical trials office leadership. As in the past, this workshop will also focus on developing measurements, or "metrics," for the purposes of understanding and improving clinical research operations.

An institutional goal to develop collaborative partnerships with other research organizations was a key factor in the recent decision by the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center (UFSCC) to select OnCore(r) products in support of their clinical and translational research informatics needs. With the signing of the contract, the UFSCC has become the 25th cancer center to adopt the OnCore platform.

With the signing of their contract for the OnCore® clinical research management system in January, the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) of the Unversity of California-Irvine became the 22nd cancer center to adopt the OnCore platform in support of its clinical research informatics needs. Center director, Frank L. Meyskens, Jr., M.D., announced last week that the CFCCC has purchased both the OnCore Clinical Research Management system (OnCore CRM) as well as the OnCore Biospecimen Management system (OnCore-BSM).

New this conference will be a special pre-conference workshop on Wednesday morning for clinical trials office administrators and managers. As was done at the spring conference, an entire morning will be set aside for concurrent breakout sessions focusing on specific job roles. Thursday and Friday will be spent on Oncore related topics such as discussions on how to get the most from Oncore and a look at evolving Oncore functionality.
