Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Goes Live with OnCore®

The Center's Oncology Department Started Using the System on March 25th

MADISON, Wis. (April 3, 2009) -- Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) went live March 25th with the implementation of OnCore in their Oncology department.

The project was kicked-off last fall when staff began to migrate data from their legacy system for Oncology to OnCore. "We had been using the same database for years," said Rebecca Turner, Oncology Clinical Research Manager for Hematology and Oncology at CCHMC. "Since our database was not as comprehensive as OnCore, we had a lot of work to do."

But, Turner expects that the extra work will pay off. "OnCore will hold vast amounts of information that we did not previously have available," she said. "It will be much easier to track the progress of a protocol and to make sure that the correct version numbers are used for all study-related documents. Those things are key to protecting our study subjects and providing them with the most accurate, up-to-date information available. We look forward to expanding into additional OnCore functionality in the near future"

In celebration, PercipEnz had a cake delivered. "We killed it! Only scraps are left! Yum!" wrote Rebecca Turner, Oncology Clinical Research Manager for Hematology and Oncology at CCHMC.

The hospital is taking a phased approach to implementation. "We went live with oncology data first so we could identify and eliminate glitches in our processes," said Turner. "Using 'lessons learned' should make the hematology implementation go more smoothly."

Since the oncology go live date, Turner and her staff have already added a variety of new studies to OnCore. So far, things are going well. "The final migration went very smoothly," says Turner. "Next stop . . . Hematology!"
