Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC)
PercipEnz is an Associate Member of CDISC. CDISC is a non-profit, multidisciplinary organization with an active and diverse membership that is developing data interchange standards. These standards cover a broad range of biotech research activities including the acquisition, exchange, tabulation, analysis, and storage of clinical trial data as well as FDA submissions. Expected to improve both efficiency and productivity, these standards will reduce both the time it takes to develop new therapeutic agents and devices as well as the associated costs.
National Cancer Institute
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NCI, established under the National Cancer Act of 1937, is the Federal Government's principal agency for cancer research and training. The National Cancer Act of 1971 broadened the scope and responsibilities of the NCI and created the National Cancer Program. Over the years, legislative amendments have maintained the NCI authorities and responsibilities and added new information dissemination mandates as well as a requirement to assess the incorporation of state-of-the-art cancer treatments into clinical practice.
NCI Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG)
A voluntary network or grid connecting individuals and institutions to enable the sharing of data and tools, creating a World Wide Web of cancer research. The goal is to speed the delivery of innovative approaches for the prevention and treatment of cancer. The infrastructure and tools created by caBIG also have broad utility outside the cancer community. caBIG is being developed under the leadership of the National Cancer Institute's Center for Bioinformatics.
NCI Clinical Trials Working Group (CTWG)
The purpose of the CTWG is to advise the National Cancer Advisory Board and its Subcommittee on Clinical Investigations on the development, conduct, infrastructure, and support necessary for the optimal coordination and future progress of the entire range of intramural and extramural clinical research trials supported by the National Cancer Institute, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention studies.
